Casa de Phillips contains one Dr. of Industrial Organizational Psychology, one former special ed teacher now stay-at-home mom, one adorable preschool boy with such a zest for life he can barely sleep past 5am, and one spunky two year old girl whose birth we blogged live (that little fact will likely come back to haunt her in junior high). We all need a little bit of saving sometimes.
I have that exact TV in my kitchen, too. Ours in in a corner that is not obtrusive, but I see your problem. I would personally probably either do a corner shelf or save up and put a different one in the middle of that wall. Me, being an instant gratification kind of girl, would do the corner shelf now! :)
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I am inspired to shine my sink every night :). I'm lucky if the dishes are all in the dishwasher each night, but my sink definitely deserves a good shine....
It looks FABULOUS!!! Since I'm actually in the red (negative!) when it comes to ideas and creativity, I cannot help w/ the TV situation. SORRY. I wish I could. I'm sure you'll have something worked out that will be beautiful and suit your needs before long.
So no suggestions, just love the kitchen! I can't tell what the counters are made of? It looks so pretty and I don't think I can offer up any organizational advice after seeing your closet....
So-if the cords sticking out are the biggest problem for you, I'd save up for the skinny TV. Because one of the best parts of the skinny tv is the fact that, at least for ours, the cords are INSIDE the wall.
But if TV off the counter ASAP is the ultimate goal, I'd go with the corner shelf.
You could get a wall mount bracket for the type of television you have (www.avdeals.com/crtmounts.htm). I don't know if it would be so expensive that you would rather save up for a skinny tv, but these are what we use in all of our bible classrooms that have the old tv/dvd/vcr combos.
I say save up for the skinny TV for two reasons: 1) It will fit on the shelf and hide the cords better and 2). It will clear up space on your counter, and doesn't a clear counter just make you feel all tingly inside?! I know it does me.
Your kitchen looks very functional and bright and cheery and shiny...especially the sink. Right this very minute, I am about to shine my sink (just like the FlyLady), but I can't because Brad is in the shower and he HATES when I take all his hot water to clean the sink. :) Give me ten more minutes!
Okay, so one more thought before I shine my sink. You should take us a virtual tour of your whole house! I had more fun than I'd like to admit watching that little video. Partly because you did such a great job and partly because I'm exceptionally nose-y and I like to see what other people do with their houses.
The countertops and new sink look great! It sparkles:-)
As for the TV, if you have cable/satellite hooked up to it, I would go with the flat panel tv monitor as they are super inexpensive lately. Also, I would consider mounting it to the wall with a swivel mount (with all the money you save on the tv, of course) and that way you can have a wider viewing angle. Then, you will have a clear counter AND a lovely shelf for accessorizing, etc. Just my 2 cents... or dollars? :-)
Personally, I want a 1 stop touch screen flat panel tv/monitor that will give me shows, facebook, and recipes all at my fingertips, but alas, those days are not here for me yet - sigh.

Love the countertops! Thanks for sharing. I will have to think on the TV idea...
