Fear the craft cabinet no more!

Allow me to introduce you to the phillips family laundry room cabinets.

They appear to be the standard laundry room cabinet set-up.
However, when one decides to open said cabinets one likely fears for one's life. Take a look for yourself...

I have been victim to a stray glue bottle or a forgotten flashlight falling from these cabinets on more than one occasion. My favorite times are when something really loud, such as a large metal container, falls and crashes into the washing machine during a time when the children are sleeping just a few feet away. Lovely.

Today I decided this chaos in the laudry room had to go. I pulled out some trash bags and got to work. My motto is "When in doubt, throw it out." I tossed lots of old scrapbooking supplies and crafting odds and ends that were older than my children. I also set aside some crafting items not being used here at casa de phillips to donate to the children's preschool.

After awhile the laundry room cabinets finally had some order and were no longer posing a risk to our personal safety.

Apparently we fear a light bulb shortage here at casa de phillips because the whole left side of the second shelf is light bulbs. The crazy this is that we use halogen bulbs that are supposed to last for years so the stockpiling of lighting equipment really makes no sense at all.

Want to know what the children were doing while I was busy organizing?

Well, they were apparently on a quest to destroy the last place I recently organized...E's closet. At least they had fun playing (they did not have quite as much fun cleaning up this Little People metroplex they built).

What back to school projects are you trying to get done in these final weeks of summer? Leave a comment and let us know what is going on at your house as everyone prepares to head back to school. On Saturday I will randomly select a winner from the comments. The person chosen will receive a new household reference book made by Parents! This is a great prize for those desiring a household notebook but prefer not to make it themselves.

Good Luck! Comments will close on Friday evening for this contest.

Way to go! THose cabinets look great. I need to organize: MY NEW HOUSE! The move came quick, and the surgery came quicker. Storage is still full and the house seems full already.

The before and after of the cabinets is amazing!! BTW, I think we have the same iron! :)
We are going to get an organizer for Silas's closet sometime this month. We got one for Ty's and I can not believe the room they create.

Wow, impressive organizing. My project would be to fully unpack our house and maybe, actually hang something on a wall...somewhere.

My household project is to decorate our house. I am still bitter about having to move into the same house for the second time. I have protested by not decorating, but Everett's birthday is Sept. 12. The decorating will be done by then!

I have decided to put off all projects until school has started back. I think my Tuesdays and Thursdays will be so wide open that I'll just have to organize and craft away! Also, it seems like all the summer activities that I had planned are going to happen in the next week and half before school starts and it's wearing me out!! Your laundry room is an inspiration, my dear. (Does flattery help me win the "the book"?)

I'm just trying to get things re-organized that have gotten unorganized! It's my own fault...I don't always take time to put things away!

Clothes, clothes, clothes! Who knew 2 tiny darlings could outgrow so many clothes at such a quick pace! I will be sorting said clothing into bags - Donate/Sell/Save - just like our favorite show Mission Organization taught us to! : ) Glad to know E's room is messy even when my children haven't been there to help!

Way to go on your laundry/craft cabinet. Looks fantastic and I know you must smile every time you open them now, right?

As for me, I'd like to complete a totally anal project I've had in the back of my mind for at least 3 years now...I want to design a grocery list based on the aisles in my Kroger and then have a pad made out of it at Kinkos. I am a huge dork, I know, but I think that would be SO helpful and time-saving. I took pics of the aisle markers months ago but haven't completed the task. Maybe by the time Clara and Ian go back to school? One can hope...

Well, since I have been on bed rest I just about organized my entire house. I just have Brian put the "junk" on the couch and a trashcan beside me. Right now I am working on our junk drawer and junk basket in the kitchen. It has truly brought me joy to have this time to organize. I love that we are kindred spirits when it comes to organizing.

Love the baskets and boundaries! My unfinished summer project is organizing my daughter's closet as she gets ready to share her room with a new little brother or sister. I want to figure out a way to store all of my ocntainers of clothes according to size. Have any suggestions as to the most inexpensive place to find storage containers and shelving?
