Question of the Week

Well, as of 6:35am this morning I had survived my final day of Thanksgiving Boot Camp. Hopefully my 18 month old will not need to be picked up at any point over the next few days because my arms are beyond tired. I can barely get the coffee cup to my lips at this point (notice I said "barely". Priorities, people.)

As of 6:36am this morning I had secured my spot in the Christmas Boot Camp coming up in three weeks. Seems someone needs to not allow me to make such decisions when under the influence of strong exercise endorphins.

I have many tales to share (one of how I caught Isaac attempting to clean E.'s ear with a piece from a wicker basket. Fortunately I stopped that plan before any ear drums were ruptured.), but the children would like to eat breakfast at some point this morning. Alas such stories will have to wait.

In the meantime, I have a question of great importance: Pre-lit Christmas tree or regular Christmas tree? (Please note I mean artificial when I refer to Christmas trees. I have EXTREME allergies to real trees...and to pine needles all over my carpet).

Casa de phillips had to toss our old tree out with the trash last year, as it had come to the end of its time with us. We just didn't feel like a tree being supported by three strategically placed National Geographics was working for us anymore. I was sad to see that tree go, as I purchased it the Christmas we were engaged for $8 in an after-holiday sale.

Now I am in the market for a new tree and I am questioning if I should go with the pre-lit tree or the non pre-lit tree. Please weigh in with your thoughts on such a profound question.

Until my next post...Happy Friday!

I don't know what your light color/size preferences are, but assuming they are such that a pre-lit tree is really an option, I say go pre-lit! Then your can focus all your decorating prowess on making it cute, rather than fighting with lights.

And my family used nat'l geo magazines for YEARS to raise the height of the tree. Three bundled stacks under the tree stand then covered with the tree skirt. Worked for us!

As long as you agree on which lights to use (colored/all white) then go with a pre-lit, unless, of course, you like to change things up each year.

We do not agree on what lights to put on our tree therefore we did not commit to a pre-lit. Because of that, my hubby gets the lovely task of stringing lights. I prefer all white lights but the Bewley family tradition has been colored since the days of in-home electricity began.

Happy tree hunting!

Since stringing lights on a Christmas tree just might be one of my least favorite holiday activities, I would sooo get a pre-lit tree!

Seriously, how much is your time worth?

Think of the wonderfulness of just standing your tree up and plugging it in?!

I'm trying to convince Brad that we need one before Christmas this year instead of using our old (short) tree and waiting until the after-Christmas sales. We'll see!

Dotcha just love Christmas?

I was going to comment, but Jenni beat me to it. Since we're sisters, we really have the same thing to say on this one. (And, I still use National Geographics to raise my tree a little higher. Isn't that what those are for?)

We have had prelit for a long time, and so far that has been one of the best decisions we have ever made. They save a lot of time!
